Chapter attends annual province workshop
by Andrew Owen

Group photo at 2011 Province Workshop     On January 15–16, on the campus of Northwest Mississippi Community College in Senatobia, MS, the brothers of Province 24 (Mississippi) met for the annual province workshop. Theta Upsilon sent four representatives, Brothers Spencer Arbuckle, Mathew Coleman, Josh Reeves, and Austin White to cast four out of five possible votes for the representative province officers. The workshop began that Sunday, opening with singing and fellowship. Collegiate Province Representative Nathan Lewis and Deputy Governor Andrew Owen led a session on ritual presentation, which was followed by a frank discussion about chapter image on campus. After this discussion, NWMCC Vice President of Student Affairs Brother Dan Smith provided a chili meal at his home a short drive from campus. Upon returning, the collegiate province representative presented his report from CPR Convocation the previous month. The Lambda Rho Chapter (NWMCC) then presented an initiation ritual, which ended the evening. The following morning, Governor David Garraway concluded the discussion about chapter image on campus, then presided over the elections of the CPR, Assistant CPR, and province fraternity education coordinator. The province elected Brother Nathan Lewis (Lambda Phi) as collegiate province representative, Brother Trent Nichols (Lambda Phi) as assistant collegiate province representative, and Brother Derrick Truss (Pi Nu) as province fraternity education coordinator. The workshop closed at noon that Monday. A general business meeting of the Province Council (the voting body of all province matters, consisting of two representatives from each chapter in the province) then began in a different room. Brothers Josh Reeves and Austin White served as Theta Upsilon's representatives. The meeting saw the setting of two province events—a brotherhood-building retreat on March 24 and a leadership workshop on August 25. All in attendance grew as brothers of the province.
