Chapter has joint recital with Mu Phi Epsilon
by Daniel Payne

Melissa Joiner, Brian Thomson, Phillip Carter, and Ashley Burton, performing "Fever."     On February 25, 2010, the Theta Upsilon chapter of Phi Mu Alpha and the Gamma Zeta chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon put together a joint recital for the music department. The recital started off with a bang as Mu Phi Epsilon's Meg Dennis slapped brother Steven Hugley across the face after a short feud on whose recital it actually was.
This act was only a prelude to a special surprise musical number by Brothers Brad Ballard, Joe Raymond, and Travis Hall of “You Just Got Slapped” from television show How I Met Your Mother.
The recital’s program included “Musical Representations” by Amanda Gill, Jennifer Coggins, Tim Powell, and Brad Ballard; “A Little Fall of Rain” by Meg Dennis and Josh Reeves; Boccherini’s Minuet performed by Shanna Haynes, Minda Starling, Austin White, and Steven Hugley; Joe Raymond’s clarinet solo “Lady Statesmen”; a flag routine performed by Amanda Gill, Sarah Green, Tim Powell, and Travis Hall; “16 Going on 17” by Minda Starling and Geoff “Moose” Latham; “Fever” by Melissa Joiner, Phillip Carter, Brian Thomson, and Ashley Burton; Joe Raymond’s solo on baritone saxophone called “7/8”; “A Dangerous Game” from the musical Jekyll and Hyde performed by Josh Reeves and Christi Sweeting; and finally a musical performance by Katherine Grant on turntables and Bryson Greer on trumpet.
The recital was concluded with Mu Phi Epsilon’s executive committee serenading the brothers of Phi Mu Alpha with “A Serenade to a Phi Mu Alpha.” The Joint Recital turned out to be a great success with many in attendance. Phi Mu Alpha is very grateful for the participation and willingness of its members and for the members of Mu Phi Epsilon for putting on such a successful recital and looks forward to future joint recitals.
